There is no doubt that plants are a great decorative element, especially the hanging ones since they can fill those empty corners, that we forget sometimes, with color. And what better than hanging succulents to decorate those spaces: they need little care, usually grow at a good pace, and are pretty beautiful.
Enlighten took charge of compiling some of the most eye-catching succulents around. Now all you have to do is to choose which one you like the most.
1. Chain of hearts
marjmahal / Imgur
Its colloquial name comes from the peculiar shape of its leaves, which resemble small hearts with a green or purple back. Ceropegia woodii is a very popular indoor hanging plant, but it can also live outdoors. It needs very little water — only when the substratum is dry. Place it in a well-lit place and it will be happy.

futurezach / Imgur
This plant, native to Mexico, is one of the nicest to have in your home due to its flexibility in relation to the weather. Like almost all succulents, Sedum morganianum prefers warm environments, but can also be kept indoors where the temperature is lower.
What it needs is very simple: it needs to be exposed to light at least 6 hours a day, but not directly under the sun, as it could get burned. In addition, it has to be watered only when its sediment is dry (this can be somewhere in between the 10th and 14th days from the previous watering). Finally, it needs a well-draining substratum so that water does not accumulate in its roots. If the burro’s tail (as it is also known) is happy, it will have its characteristic blue-green color and can even produce red flowers.

adsailor1 / Imgur
This plant has long been confused with Sedum morganianum. Although they look very much alike, and it is clear why one might think they are the same, in reality, they are different species. Sedum burrito has unique characteristics: its leaves are shorter and more rounded, and the flowers it produces are pink. With the right attention, it can reach up to 20 inches long (or more!). However, its care is the same as that of the previous plant.

BreyerJH / Reddit
This plant, Senecio rowleyanus, is ideal as a decoration because of its particularly spherical leaves. Although, in nature, it is a creeping plant, in homes it works as a hanging one because in that way its “chains of pearls” look incredible. Besides the beauty of its leaves, it also produces white flowers that have a smell similar to cinnamon.
The plant should be kept in a well-lit place, but not in direct sunlight. As for the watering, it should receive it between 1 to 2 times per week: if the leaves start to fall off, you should water it less; if they flatten out, it is time to give it more water.
5. Hoya or waxplant
rykielv / Reddit
This plant is commonly known as Hoya, waxflower, waxvine, or waxplant. Its leaves are fleshy and dark green, but the most characteristic feature are its white flowers with a pink center, which bloom in the shape of a half-sphere.
This plant needs to receive plenty of light, but without being exposed to the sun. It does not tolerate cold weather, so you have to protect it from the cold. When it is blooming, between spring and summer, it should be irrigated with abundant water, but taking care that the soil doesn’t get flooded.

overheating247 / Reddit
The leaves of the plant Senecio radicans look like a row of miniature green bananas. It is perfect for hanging pots because of the way it grows lengthwise, as well as its ease of cultivation. It prefers temperate or warm climates and should receive indirect light. In addition, like almost all succulents, it needs to be watered only when its soil is dry.

Although it is commonly known as little pickles or ruby necklace, its real name is Othonna capensis, and it is a long-stemmed plant with purple hues. It grows about 2 inches upward before it starts to fall, and its stems can reach up to 24 inches long.
This plant grows best outdoors because it loves light and can live directly in the sun. It likes moderate moisture, so it should be kept well-hydrated (2 to 3 waterings per week). When the Othonna blooms, it produces yellow flowers that are very similar to daisies.
8. Crassula pellucida
jburek95 / Reddit
Besides being planted in hanging pots, this plant can also be used to decorate walls or flower arrangements. Just like the chain of hearts, Crassula pellucida has heart-shaped leaves, but these turn pink or red when exposed to the sun. In addition, it produces white and star-shaped flowers during the spring.
The color of the leaves changes according to the amount of light the plant receives. However, you should not leave it in direct sunlight to try to make it redder or pinker, as it could get burned. Ideally, place it on a sunspot, or in a place where it receives direct sun and then partial shade. As for the watering, it should be irrigated when it is completely dry.

<-44">lacostaflores / Reddit
Sedum ’Little Missy’ can be used as a groundcover creeping plant, but the fast and lush way it grows makes it an excellent choice for hanging pots. Its leaves are small and bright green, with pink or pale green edges.
It likes light, so it can be partially or fully exposed to the sun. As for the watering, the soil should be kept slightly moist as long as the pot drains well.

<-49">cSpaceDiva / Imgur
The Sedum sieboldii’s stems can reach up to 20 inches long, so it works well as a cover for soil spaces and in a hanging pot. It likes warm weather and full sun, so it is an ideal plant for a courtyard or balcony. Despite its high exposure to light, it requires very little watering.
11. Button orchid or string of nickels
<-54">J_L_Y / Reddit
It is characterized by its fleshy round leaves that hang from long stems. Dischidia nummularia is a slow-growing hanging plant, however, over time it becomes a bushy one. It doesn’t need to be in the sun, so it can stay indoors, in a lit room. It should be watered when its soil is dry.
